If I had become stuck in snow, I could have easily pulled the velo as a toboggan. However, if adding electric power, it is easy to put that on the front wheels and get 3WD.
Rear steering is better on a tadpole, because it can't get trapped against a curb, but RWS has a slower response time, having to yaw the whole vehicle before turning. This is not as slow as having to tilt it, though. I think I have a relatively novel solution to your problem, as in 'narrow track HPV with relatively high CG that would still corner at 1G": a diamond quad with middle wheels comprised of iLean pair setup, with direct lean control using a lever like on Tripendo.
http://www.bentrideronline.com/messageboard/showthread.php?t=149113

It is certainly going to satisfy your inner 'gizmologist' :).
It does drive only one set of wheels, and there are no brakes on middle wheels though, but otherwise you can hardly beat bike-like the simplicity... it does require a fairly long-travel suspension on both 'main' wheels though.
My main goal is to have it faired and being able to resist truck suck/bow waves and wing gusts (plus static stability and lows-speed stability) w/o steering input.

To satisfy MY inner gizmologist that is about as insatiable as yours, I'll be eventually experimenting with a centerless front wheel to run crankset axle inside the wheel to solve 'recumbent packaging problem'.

I think there is a way to combine it with VPS steering/suspension like on Robert Horns moto, but that is a bit complex - centerless wheels are reconsidered expensive, heavy gimmicks for reason, and while it would finally serve a purpose besides looking cool, it does leave 'heavy and expensive'...BalorNGhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17171222905798969658noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7497191769424400596.post-90576096385155586212019-09-11T05:00:29.976-07:002019-09-11T05:00:29.976-07:00This is a truly good site post.
